Our services
Our Merbein facility provides access to testing for various agricultural commodities, food products, beverages (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic), raw materials and additives. The facility is managed by Technical Services Officer, Farimah Arshadi.
Merbein services include:
- Maturity testing: helping producers determine the ideal harvest time for maximum quality, with pH, total acidity (TA), Brix and YAN testing available.
- Agrochemical residues: detecting and quantifying pesticide and herbicide residues to confirm safety and compliance.
- Nutrient testing: verifying optimal plant and soil health for agricultural production, with a focus on elemental balance.
- Molecular diagnostics: diagnostic services for viruses, phytoplasma and a range of other crop diseases, including trunk diseases. Virus elimination and tissue culture services are available to provide clean plant material for propagation.
- Production quality control support: targeted testing to support food and beverage production, including sugars, acids, colour, preservatives and antioxidants, metals and product stability.
- Export testing: ISO17025 accredited services for product export for a range of foods and beverages.
- Technical trials and support: access customised and bespoke solutions for technological advancements and best practice, through expert advice, trial design, advanced analytical testing and sensory support.

Most tests can be ordered online using our webforms. Simply click the Submit samples button on the top-right of this page and select the form for the product type you would like tested.
Sample courier service
Murray-Darling producers and suppliers can easily arrange for the collection of their samples b calling or texting Farimah on 0437 151 010. This service is available Monday to Friday.
Sample drop-off information
Samples can be delivered to the Merbein laboratory:
